    Extend partition

    Extend partition-annotation-2020-09-09-171420.png
I am planning to replace my HDD with an SSD. I will image the HDD and then restore to the SSD. I have a OEM Recovery partition that I would like to delete after the image has been restored to the SSD. However, I would then like to move the 980MB and extend my C drive to recover the space used by the OEM partition. I am unsure of the best way to accomplish this and would appreciate and suggestions. Thanks for any advice. Windows 1909.

The standard recommendation is Minitool Partition Wizard, a free download.

I haven't use it in a while, but it's quite intuitive. Nothing will actually occur until you poke a button on the upper left which says "apply" or words to that effect.

I would recommend a bit different approach...

Make system Image of your drive with Macrium free, or similar - to external drive, and make Macrium recovery USB.

Insert new SSD and Make clean install of Windows (make bootable USB drive before). This is only to get default set of Windows partitions! You can format C: after

Now attach your external drive, boot with Macrium recovery USB drive, and just drag your old C: partition to your new C: it will fill all the available space.

Run fix boot partitions from Macrium recovery drive after.

I want to thank ignatzatsonic, Paul Black and AndreTen for your suggestions. I believe I will try Minitool first but I like having an alternative just in case. Thank you again.
