Can someone tell me how i check my battery life on my dell xps 15 9550? I done the test a while back but don't recall how you do it. My battery is a few years old and I replaced it once. Last time i got around 30 minutes only on battery and now it seems 5 minutes... it will go out. I do have it plugged in all the time though to my 2 monitors etc.
I have a Dell 9560 and use the free program HWiNFO. I don't know how accurate it is. My still only shows 1.5% wear after three years.

It will tell you, amongst other things, the design capacity of your battery and its full charge capacity, ie. the maximum charge it can now hold. Here's one of mine that's now down to 72% of design capacity.
Okay i did a battery report test... it shows as of a few days ago
The full charge for active is 23 minutes and around 2h 45m at design capacity.

I got it off ebay 2.5 years ago but the seller had excellent feedback and was charging a lot for it compared to other sells. I believe he was selling it for 100 dollars while other sellers were selling it for 45-70 dollars and he said it was genuine so I paid a premium for it. And Dell did not sell this replacement battery so i could not buy it off dell... its a 56whr if that matters? Dell back then sold it for 140 or so which isn't much over the 100 I paid but Dell just didn't have it in stock... And I didn't want to pay 45-70 dollars from a seller on ebay which I thought battery was probably really bad. But I think this battery might been the same as those who sold it for 45-70 dollars?
This was my first battery replacement on the xps 15 9550. The original battery I used with the laptop... it lasted 1.5 years before I got the replacement. That first battery after 1.5 years... it would turn off within 10 minutes or so on battery. Do you have any opinion on that?
Also my laptop is on at least 14+ hours a day everyday. I use it when plugged in to an outlet 100% of the time pretty much along with my 2 monitors. So could that have made the battery worn out much worst?
Back then when I did was use my laptop with my 2 monitors on battery until it was like 20-30%... then plug it back in to 100%... then unplug and rinse and repeat... because I thought that is how you make the battery last longer but people said you should have it plugged in all the time since you are using it as a laptop which is what im doing. With this battery, this is what i been doing. With my old battery, i was basically unplugging and plugging it every 1.5 hour or so. So that contributed why my original dell battery worn out real fast right?
The rule of thumb seems to be not to let the battery discharge too much before recharging....
