After installing KB4562900 updates select keys not functioning

After running windows 10 1903 update KB4562900 Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework on 30th July few of the keys have stopped working. The keys 0, 9, o, l, ., up down right left keys are not functioning. Uninstalled the quality update and even tried to uninstall from Advance Options but after uninstalling the update, again it had installed two other updates KB4560960 and KB4565633. The windows application log show the event 'The program explorer.exe version 10.0.18362.959 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. Log Name: Application Source: Application Hang Date: 30-07-2020 19:37:11 Event ID: 1002' exact during the time the key blocking issue start to show up.

When tried to update the Standard PS/2 keyboard driver from the Device Manager it show 'The best driver for the device are already installed' message. Even after all this the keys are still not functioning.

Uninstall those updates as well and see if things then work correctly.

    Method 1 (most common) -

Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update

Scroll down to View update history and click.

Click on the Uninstall updates link at the top.

    Method 2 -

Open an elevated (Run as Administrator) Command prompt.

Enter this command in the format - wusa /uninstall /KB:kb number

    Example: wusa /uninstall /KB:4537821

I would consider using the free tool Windows Automatic Updates Manager to control your updates.

    WAU Manager.

We have been using it successfully, with no issues, for a while now.

Successfully uninstalled those updates still the keys are not functioning. Could not locate the actual problem area. Any proven method to enable back those blocked keys that caused due to these kinds of issues.

The strange thing is disabling windows updates in Settings Advanced options show below error while browsing websites. Have to enable windows update again.

This site can’t be reached login.yahoo.com’s server IP address could not be found.
    Try:
Checking the proxy, firewall, and DNS configuration
    Running Windows Network Diagnostics
    DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG

Use System Restore to roll back to a recent restore point before the updates.

Failing that, restore from a recent disk image backup.

Though have more than 4gb allocated for system restore while trying system restore windows simply displayed with a lone restore point created after the issue started happening. Have dual boot along with windows 8.1 and tried to check the keys with windows 8.1 and to the surprise the keys are even not working in 8.1 . Uninstalled the keyboard device driver to restart and reinstall the driver that did not solve the issue.

I would uninstall the device, reboot, and let Windows detect it.

Failing that, I would manually install the drivers by doing the following -

Download the drivers from the vendor

In Device Manager, right-click on the device and select Properties

Click on the Driver tab and select Update Driver

Click Browse my computer for driver software

Click Let me pick from an available list of drivers on my computer

Click Have Disk and then Browse to the path where you saved the vendor drivers.

Even for update driver and selecting drivers manually to install show the same message 'windows has determined the best driver is already installed'. The other option shown is search windows update for latest drivers. It not at all allow to install manually and if uninstalled the device to restart, the driver gets installed while after reboot. This post windows update keyboard malfunctioning seems to be a common problem and different users get it fix with different methods and none is working for here.

This looks very like your post
keyboard - After installing windows 10 1903 July 21, 2020-KB4562900 updates few of the keys have stopped working - Super User

Also what is your PC? laptop? desktop? tablet? surface? - make and model, and approx age please.
Do you have access to an alternative keyboard for comparison?

I'm running 1903 and have installed that update.

For comparison, boot to Safe Mode. Check if the keys work then.
