add RAM to board

I have an Asus TUF Z 390 Plus Gaming WIFI board with one stick of ram. It is a Corsair 8 GB DDR4 -2400 stick.
I had it built and should have gotten 16 GB for a VM.
Can I buy the same stick and install it in a second channel, boot up and go or is there more to it than that?
It us still warranted so would this void it if I did this myself. My hardware knowledge is obviously limited. I have placed RAM in older machines but it came in pairs so was easier.
I can bring it to the builder but it is difficult for me.
Any suggestions?

It's always better to buy a matched set like this:
G.Skill Trident Z 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory (F4-3600C16D-16GTZKW) - PCPartPicker

...but yes, you could probably buy the exact same stick of RAM (exact same model number) that you already have, and you will probably be OK.

I will see what the other stick says and not just the the invoice then install both being the same.
I did not know anything else was required.

And on your motherboard the sticks will go into slots 2 and 4, counting away from the CPU. Like the RED dots...

OK, Thanks. Your diagram is very significant. I took the case cover off and it appears the stick in there clicks on only one end.
I am used to clicking both ends.
There is room for four slots.
I read where it is better to buy two new 8 GB sticks than a single 16 GB stick to to replace the 8 .
They would go in slots 2 and 4 going away from the CPU.Do you agree.

Try to buy exact same brand, same speed and same timings.
Download, extract and run HWInfo . It's a portable, don't need to be installed.
On the memory tab you will find the specs of your current memory.
Pay attention to install on the properly slot to have dual channel. It probably would be 1-3 or 2-4.

Or, just go to GSkill and use their RAM Configurator. The results of that are all tested on the specific motherboards.
Just fill in the drop down boxes and hit the search button.

RAM Configurator-G.SKILL International Enterprise Co., Ltd.

The manufacturer's QVLs are also good, but a lot harder to use. That RAM I linked in post #2, is guaranteed to work on that motherboard.

Corsair used to have a great Memory Finder, but they haven't been keeping up with it. :/
