Adaptor for type C Thunderbolt 3 port to connect to USB 3.0

    Windows Version 1909

I don't know the right terminology.

My new Dell laptop has a type-c thunderbolt 3 port.
I'm looking for an adapter so that I can connect an external hard drive that has a USB 3.0 connector.
I've looked around but I'm not 100% sure if I will be getting the right one.
I've seen some that mention OTG. Not sure what this is and if I need it, or not.

I prefer to use cables that have USB-C on one end, and whatever connector plugs into the hard drive on the other end.

Connect the disk to a USB 3.0 port, directly or through a hub. The capacity of the Thunderbolt port will be wasted if a USB 3.0 disk is connected to it.
