Why is my Sony USB Floppy (A:) drive merged into my Samsung SSD?

This is truly a bizarre head-scratcher!

Why is my Sony USB Floppy (A:) drive merged into my Samsung SSD?

Now Samsung Magician can't properly work with my SSD until I completely unplug my floppy drive.

    Please observe:

From Samsung Magician (Notice how my A: drive is seemingly embedded in the SSD!)

    Attachment 289824

From EaseUS Partition Master 14.5 (Included for context)

OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit Version 2004 (OS Build 19041.388)

I moved around some things...now this is how my partitions look in EaseUS Partition Manager 14.5

    Problem/Issue is still unsolved.

You spiked my curiosity. Why do you have a floppy drive? What do you use it for. I know this doesn't help with your problem but it will help my curiosity

What is the floppy plugged into?

A: For moving, consolidating then archiving old company files from floppy to DVD or Blu-Ray.

A: This Amazon Basics USB 2.0 Hub via this USB 2.0 adapter connected directly to my motherboard (see PC Specs).

What is more...I sort of have a bone to pick with people just coming into the tech industry (a.k.a "Gen Z hipsters").
I am now 35 years old, and I am by no means a "young buc", but I am by no means considered an "Oldie Goldie" (a.k.a "Boomer") either. Yet the younger generation walks into the [figurative] room struting like they own the place, throwing out all best practices, standards, and known and trusted reliable technology, such as fax modems to even relatively young technology such as Blu-Ray drives, claiming they are "outdated" and "obsolete." I want to say, they are "foolish" and "ignorant!" I'm glad not every decision-maker listens to these morons, or else the PlayStation V and Xbox Series X would only be able to stream games, looking horrible in graphical fidelity, while simutaneously hogging not only all the household bandwidth, but also all the neighborhoods bandwidth too! The younger generation needs to chill, and aquire some humility. They're just coming into the world, changing stuff in the name of "progressiveness", knowing little to nothing about what they are doing. Ugh!!

Sorry, I had to remove the original and repost this redacted version due to security reasons.
And this forum doesn't let you modify your post after a set amount of time.

    James,

Sorry, I cannot see what you mean by your drive being subsumed into your SSD. I do not know what particular part of your diagrams you are trying to draw attention to.

Is the entry for "portable base layer" making you say this?
    - There's a discussion of this Sandbox item in Mystery Virtual Disk - TenForums
    - There are other hits from a TenForums search but I have not read through them Advanced Search portable base layer - TenForums

    Rich,

In that diagram, I see a volume that reports as 0MB capacity with drive letter A:\.

OK, I can now also see that in the Samsung application the left-hand end of the SSD shows what I did not spot before, that the A:\ drive is also shown as a partition of the SSD. So, the OP means that this volume disappears when the floppy is disconnected.

That would appear to be a specific bug in Samsung Magician itself. I'm willing to bet that it never occurred to Samsung's software developers to test it with a floppy drive attached to the system.

A search finds that there is at least one other user who has both a floppy drive and Samsung Magician.

....if one or more USB floppy drives are plugged in ALL drives show as 'Not Supported' including the officially supported drives.

@JamesAndersonJr, how often do you use the floppy. Seems like a reasonable solution is to leave it disconnected until you need it.

You could also report it to Samsung but I don't think it would be very high on their todo list, unless it's a simple fix.
