    Charging a phone


    I have a Google Pixel 4XL phone and I ma often leaving it charging overnight which of course it does what I would like to konow is apart from the 'çost' of doing so will it damage the phones battery.

    Modern appliances with rechargeable lithium ion batteries have switching that stops the charge when the battery hits 100%, and won't "top-off" until the charge level drops below a preset level.
    I would assume a modern phone would do the same. Not sure how old a Google Pixel 4XL is.

    The Pixel 4 XL is fairly new, it was just released last year of October.

    It won't hurt your battery. I have been using a backup phone for network connection (USB Tethered) and it's usually at full-charge after around less than an hour. I've been doing this for 2 years now.

    Perfectly safe and harmless to leave it charging overnight, or while you are using it. Phones today are engineered to do just that without damaging anything.

    Thanks to you all now I don't have to worry about it damaging the phones battery cells
