How to Secure Erase older Intel SSD for selling on

    Hi Guys,
I have an older Intel 320 series SSD that I no longer use, so I thought I'd sell it, OK, I know I won't get a lot for it but it will be some money. I tried to Secure Erase it whilst it was in the PC as a Master drive, of course you can't, so I thought I'd 'Google' it, went to the Intel page
Three Ways To Run Low-Level Format Using Intel(R) Software Tools
    and it tells you

    '
Note Windows® 10 and Windows 8*/8.1* blocks Secure Erase functionality.
I'm running Windows 10 home on the PC and Premium on my laptop, so since they are both win 10 I ca't do that, the next 2 options that they give you mean using
Intel® Data Migration Software (IDMS)- Acronis* DriveCleanser

That is no longer available, so what can I do? I really want to make sure that no one can get to the data on the drive. Many ThanksSteve

Suppose you do not want to install Win7; so other program should be used. PartedMagic can do Secure Erase; recent free versions are from 2013.

Mini Tool has a secure erase option:
How to Secure Erase SSD or Wipe SSD – MiniTool Guide 2020

In case you don't find a viable secure erase option you can reset:
    Reset Windows 10
If you're planning to donate, recycle, or sell your PC, use this option and choose to fully clean the drive. This might take an hour or two, but it makes it harder for other people to recover files you've removed.

Mini Tool has a secure erase option

No. This is not genuine ATA Secure Erase but inferior disk wipe. The whole page is one marketing lie, they never say explicitly their product cannot do ATA Secure Erase:
"Generally speaking, there are many choices for you like HP Secure Erase to secure erase SSD Windows 10. However, for average users who have multiple brands of hard drives, a universal free SSD erasing tool that works on all SSDs is a better choice." etc etc ad libitum et vomitum.

I had no problem using Diskpart Clean All command to wipe an old OS SSD to use as a data drive a year back.
    Has this option changed?
No need for third party apps if you don't already have them.

If installing Win 7 and using the Intel secure erase is the safest way to ensure that the data on the drive can't be recovered, then I'll do that.

For what I know, clean only partially clean the allocation table. Data can be retrieved.
Also, for what I know, full format will fill the clusters with zeros, that is why it take a loooong time to do it.

The "Clean" command is the one that just clears the partition (allocation/file) table.
The "Clean All" command writes zeros to every sector. And takes forever too.
