can't access external hard drive

Usually HDTune recognizes the HDD inside the enclosure by the manufacturers name and reports that in the drop down arrow. I have a couple of Sabrent docks and USB Adapters and it never shows it as a Sabrent drive, it always reports the Manufacturer of the drive (ie) WD, Seagate, Hitachi etc
Anyways, the drive doesn't have any Bad Sectors, why you are getting errors could be because your Flash Drive is corrupted. I would get a brand new flash drive of 8 GB or larger capacity and burn it again and try it one more time. If installing Windows, it's best to attach it internally to a desktop computer, disconnect any other drives so not to get confused.

This is a 1TB HDD just harvested from a laptop that had had boiling salt water spilled on it about 6 weeks ago. It's being read by a new-out-of-the-box laptop I purchased to replace it. When I disassembled the old laptop, there was a little salt on & under the HDD (see att), but in general that area looked comparatively clean and I doubt the drive has been compromised. However, that 3.5 year old laptop has been giving me problems (mostly speed/responsiveness) for quite some time and I am happy to have a new laptop!

I don't want to hijack this thread with a new issue even if it's related to the original post, so if there is further action I should take, please advise and I'll start a new thread. Thanks!

The drive in question seems to be in good order now, for whatever you were planning on doing with it now.
