Touchpad Scroll work in Firefox, Explorer but not in Store, Edge

Hi guys, hope someone can fix this:

Lenovo Thinkpad R500 - Touchpad scroll works in Internet Explorer, Firefox, File Explorer, Device manager, Help and some other places, but it does not work in Start menu or any menu under Control panel, Edge or Windows Store - no matter what I have tried it simply will not Scroll - There is no doubt this a BUG.

Is there a solution or Fixit for this odd behaviour?

I'm guessing it a bug in windows registry, but don't know where to find it. I have been through most that has to do with ALPS. Maybe someone here know where the registry settings for the MS software scroll option are.

Hope someone can answer this, cause it driving me nuts!

Touchpad/Trackpoint: ALPS UltraNav 2 - I have the newest driver from lenovo an ALPS don't have driver download available. But can't see how its a driver issue when it works in Device manager and the other places.

I tried getting MS support engineers at MS forum, to take a look at it, but they have this attitude that its driver issue and not Windows bug. Besides that, they never read the question before dishing out some standard solution like "try going to safe mode to see if the problem persist" - That is not going to work, since the drivers that control the scroll will not load in safe mode and then scroll will not work at all, a "real" technician would know that.

    With kind regards

Scrolling right now in Firefox - If i go to Edge or Store, its not working.
The ALPS driver and Config util for Windows 8 and 10 I'm using on my Lenovo ThinkPad R500 is attached here. Maybe someone else can use it.

    Go to Settings-->Devices-->Mouse & touchpad
There you will see an option 'Scroll inactive windows when I hover over them', turn that off.

    Enjoy scrolling everywhere

I am still having this problem. It works perfect most places. Its the system places such as start menu, settings, microsoft edge, and anywhere "new" looking that it doesn't work. It works fine in the file manager and all those older looking windows. It looks like its trying to work though, because the scrolling icon comes up when I try to do it. I am a noob but I am trying to learn as much as I can about keeping a computer healthy.

Here is what I have tried:
-I just did a clean install yesterday and then installed microsoft office, autodesk fusion 360, solidworks 2016, and chrome.
-I have searched all over my computer for anything like wizmouse, x-mouse, katmouse to deactivate, but couldnt find anything.
-I have turned OFF "scroll inactive windows when I hover over them"
-I have turned ON "scroll inactive windows when I hover over them"
-I have tried messing with "choose how many lines to scroll each time"
-I have shut down, reset, sleep, reboot
-I have updated the device drivers for Synaptics ClickPad V7.4 (PS/2)
    -I have enabled/disabled 1-finger and 2-finger scrolling settings
    -I have enabled/disabled the touchpad
-I have messed with the scrolling speed and sensitivity

Any further input will be graciously appreciated. Its probably something super easy, but I am just not very familiar with behind-the-scenes computer stuff yet. Thanks friends!

Hi, try looking for and use an older version of the driver.
Then protect it from replacement by hiding the touchpad update (See the Tutorial section, search for hide).

For a number of people scrolling (one finger) and circular or chiral scrolling doesn't work in Win 10.

In my case scrolling with the touchpad wasn't working at all.
I've played with this in the last day, and found I needed to use an old version of the driver.
My touchpad is Synaptics: the latest driver provided by Windows is v19, from 2015.
I tried using a number of different drivers from different sources- some wouldn't install, some behaved differently.
I found Synaptics v16-3-8 TP_Synaptics_W74W84_X06_A00_Setup-6F2PM_ZPE (actually a DELL Alienware driver) works best.

I now have 1 finger scroll, flick, 2 finger scroll, pinch/zoom and circular scrolling all working. That includes Win10's Start menu and Edge (I don't use those but I just checked).

Searching the internet you may find various suggestions for modifying the registry and using different drivers. I've not needed to do the former.

There is a suggestion that MS ditched 1 finger scroll in favour of 1 finger swipe. I've no idea if that's true- the touchpad Settings seem to support functions that are not available if you use the latest drivers.
