Maybe you are correct, 2004 does not like the driver and will not install it, even tho it tells me that it did install the driver.
I try to find a differed driver
    Thanks

I tried Both driver updater, no luck.
How do you install a driver in compatibility mode? I click on the INF file and click install, there is no option for compatibility mode

If there's a setup.exe file try rt clicking that. Again, no guarantees. There are other driver updater tools of course. E.g.

    Thanks
Did you Disable driver signature enforcement? I had to do that to get my FireWire card installed on Windows 10 so that my scanner worked - Getting your Nikon Coolscan to work on W7 x64 - Page 60 - Windows 7 Help Forums.

BTW what scanner? My tutorial is for Nikon Scanners.

No Setup.exe file, just INF and SYS

This is just a driver, not a program

yes i did disable signature enforcement, My scanner is a HP Scanjet 5p
As i stated before, the last couple of times when windows removed the driver i reinstalled and all was fine, this time, no go. maybe this driver is to old. it is from 2013. windows might not like this any more

Just Downloaded Driver easy and it shows: SCSI controller up to date. So the driver must be installed, but windows will not let me use it. Device manager still shows ?

Hmmm.... that's interesting you that Windows removes your driver. Never saw that one, on the other I no longer have my scanner or firewire card installed as I have no use for them anymore.

At this point I have no further suggestions.

I just did some digging to find where windows stores the drivers and found that it is in:
    C: windows/system32/drivers
and the driver for my SCSI card is listed
Could it be that my SCSI card is broken?

I found a newer driver and installed it: SUCSESS

Start from the premise that with old hardware there is absolutely no guarantee that what works with one build of Windows will continue to work with the next. Using old hardware not designed for Win 10 becomes your responsibility.

For example, I have a scanner- it works perfectly with Win 7. There is no chance of it working with Win 10. I use a virtual machine running Windows XP and use it with that.

I assume, given that you had it working previously and that it installs, this is not a problem of trying to run a 16 bit program on a 64 bit system.

You could try installing it in compatibility mode.

Another possibility is to try using a Driver Updater program (normally definitely not recommended) such as Driver Booster or DriverMax. Ignore everything but any reference to your Adaptec card.
Which scanner since I managed to get an old Epson scanner to work in Windows 10 when Epson said it wasn't supported?

Well done. In my case I have an old Epson Perfection 1200 and I discovered the Windows 7 drivers for the later Perfection 2400 work just fine.
