Hi, In an occasional case drivers originally provided for older editions of Windows are needed. So yes, they may well be compatible.

However you should consider whether you are planning to move from 32 bit Windows to 64, or from 64 to 64 depending on your upgrade route, and whether drivers were ever available for a 64 bit O/S.

Crosscheck with others' experience of running Win 10 on that PC, whichever model (unspecified) it is.

    - consider
    a. drivers are provided by Windows when Windows is installed.
    b. You have two possible basic paths to installing Win 10.
    - a clean install using your Win 7 license key if Win 10 has not previously been installed (tutorial available)
    - upgrading from Win 7 keeping progs and data

    c. Having done one of those, you would then assess if you have a driver problem - i.e. either your PC is truly incompatible with Win 10, or MS's databases have not delivered you an appropriate driver.

As HP has a policy of withdrawing drivers from their site for PCs over 10 years old, what you describe may be an appropriate precaution.

This is the tutorial for backing up drivers for Win 10:

You may well find the equivalent on sevenforums for Win 7.

You also asked about this subject in your thread how to identify which driver should be installed - TenForums
and I have responded in post #7

I suggest that you report progress and ask questions in only one of your threads unless your questions are about two different computers.
