5TB drive only showing as 561.53GB

A disk that lists as RAW indicates a missing or corrupted File Table, which can be also read as uninitialized.

I suggest that you do a full disk scan on the drive. If a bad sector is in the area of the disk where the file table is then this could cause this problem.

You could also use the Diskpart Clean All command. This will write all zeros to the drive. (A 5TB will take a very long time).

Wow! That's quite interesting. Didn't even notice the "AF" marking.
What would happen if the OP tried my suggestions - would it still work? Must it be MBR?

Okay. So yesterday (when this problem surfaced) I tried all sorts of things including re-partitioning and re-formatting the drive (to no avail). So, the data on the drive has gone.

Okay. I read this and it *sort* of makes sense, certainly 561GB is approx 1/8 of the formatted capacity of a 5TB drive.

Not sure how to use the above information.

I asked one of the partition management programs (can't remember which - I tried 3 yesterday) to convert the disk to GPT. How can I find out whether the disk is formatted according to MBR of GPT - through Disk Management?
