Download, extract and run CrystalDiskInfo
Don't need to be installed.
Okay
First, this is what I get in Linux ...
@Try3
Because it is a Toshiba 5TB X300 Hard Disk
Link: Toshiba X300 5TB 7200RPM 128MB 3.5" SATA HDD (HDWE150EZSTA): Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories
and here's a picture of the actual drive ...

... and this is what CrystalDiskInfo gives me ...

Delete everything on the drive and format as NTFS
Code:diskpart list disk select disk # <- replace # with the disk number of the drive clean <- this will erase the flash drive convert gpt create part pri format fs=ntfs quick assign exit exit

Did you do what @Megahertz had suggested? Result?
Is your boot drive with W10 working OK?
Motherboard BIOS updated?
The Intel Driver and Support Assistant looked cryptic. Run it again with the 5 TB drive disconnected.
If the issue still remains....
Use EaseUS Partition Manager 14 free (install on boot drive, obviously) found here:
Free partition manager software to resize partitions - EaseUS(R) Partition Master Free
Could you create one GPT partition to the maximum size of the HDD and format it as NTFS?
This is *not* a hardware problem. Let's not use Linux right now to resolve this.
Kindly advise.
Thanks.
If you meant post #3 this thread YES - see screenshot 5 posts above yours, post #12.
If you meant post #16 then no, not yet.

Okay - will do but it will have to be tomorrow. The Intel Driver and Support Assistant looked cryptic. Run it again with the 5 TB drive disconnected.
Will try the above and update this thread tomorrow. If the issue still remains....

One other idea that popped into my head. If the above does not work, try this:
1) Boot the computer to your BIOS or UEFI firmware settings.
2) In your BIOS or UEFI firmware settings, enable AHCI, (if not already enabled) and save and exit to apply and restart the computer.
3) Check the drive.
4) If you have the same problem, go into Device Manager, uninstall the AHCI driver and reboot.
5) Check the drive again.
Okay ...
First, Intel Driver and Support Assistant with the 5 TB drive disconnected.
Have downloaded EaseUS Partition Master and upgraded to Pro version - waiting for download link in my inbox!
Also went into Device Manager to see if there were any updated drivers for the HDD Controller ...
The driver(s) is/are up-to-date.
