    xinputhid.sys green screen of death

so I'm on windows 10 pro 2004 build 20152.1000 insider preview and everything worked up until yesterday when I windows updated to a new version of the insider build

when ever I go to use my controller it green screens with xinputhid.sys, I've tried wired on different usb ports, wireless using the official dongle on different usb ports, removed all drivers related to the controller, even tried uninstalling the update. I think I have tried everything possible. a quick google search does seem to show up a lot of others experiencing blue screens of death because of the same file but they're all from years ago

does anyone have any ideas how I could fix this?

green screen of death xinputhid.sys - new win 10 build

How do I delete the xinputhid.sys driver? Anytime i try to delete the file it says I need permission from TrustedInstaller.

I booted into safe mode and deleted the xbox driver. i looked windows and system32 but didn't see xinputxd.sys where I usually find it, I did find other xinput and xbox files

I've also just reset windows 10 and it still is crashing

    reboot insafe mode

and serch for the XINPUTHID.SYS driver

    delete it

reboot and then windows will reinstall the driver

BUT!!! - THIS WILL STOP THE GREEN CRASHING, HOWVER THE DRIVER IS BROKEN WITH THIS VERSION OF WINDOWS AND WONT RUN YOUR XBOX CONTROLLER.

I have conteacted MS via the insider hub - we have to wait for a new driver

yes it only crashes if I turn on the controller so I've unplugged it until there's a fix

not sure why we can't just roll back the xbox driver

I don't think we can roll back a driver because its windows that has the issue with the driver - like windows is not compatible.

I have tried older drivers as far back as win 8.1 and still no luck finding one that will work with this new release -

not sure if I should just opt out of the insider build program - maybe I will get a more reliable version of windows back ?

if I do get anything working I will post an update - but I reckon by the time I have worked out a workaround they will have fixed this - considering its such a massive flaw...

Could you share the link to your feedback, please. I just submitted, but didn't see anything.

I was originally using the Xbox Controller Adapter over USB, and I just removed that and tried to connect to Bluetooth and it failed immediately. I have not tried uninstalling the drivers, but sounds like that will not work.

of course - my feedback last week

I did get the controller working - using an older driver - but steam doesn't see it so its pretty useless

so yeah an older driver will make windows see it and it operates but like I say only a few games really see it
