    Read camera memory card

I have a Pentax Optio 330RS camera. I should be able to connect the camera to my HP Envy15 laptop by cable to download the photos on the memory card or from the camera's internal memory to the laptop. It doesn't work and I suspect that the camera's software is not compatible with Windows 10 ( v1809) on the laptop. Can anyone confirm this and perhaps suggest a way I can read the camera's memory card?

Does the camera use an SD or SDHC card? [The SD card has a limit of 2GB and the SDHC card starts at 4GB HC = High Capacity]? Instead of a cable I use a small pocketable SD/SDHC Card reader that plugs into a USB port on a computer [got mine at Wal*Mart]. One caveat, it usually doesn't work to format a card in the computer, cameras have an issue with cards done that way, always format/reformat in the camera.

That model has a CompactFlash memory card...

    Supported Memory Cards - CompactFlash
Pentax Optio 330RS Specs - CNET

You'll need a usb CF card reader, then you can just browse the card in File Explorer.

    Amazon.co.uk : compacflash reader

I routinely do that for my camera, but as mine has an SD card that's easier, my laptop has an SD card slot built in.

Thank you Berton & Bree for your replies. I will look into buying a card reader.

Pentax Optio 330GS/RS comes from an era pre devices identifying themselves as Media Devices on being plugged to Windows PCs , I believe your camera comes bundled with a CD where you will find a driver that has to be installed and a Sync/Editor software .

Without that CD you are at the mercy of what internet has kept behind rotting in driver archives .

Here is for example a stored copy by who knows who for the GS version Pentax Optio 330gs Driver Download

As for the sync program non survived , however in their official website they list so many sync softwares for different versions of cams , yours not included sadly however some might come to fit Software Downloads : Support & Service | RICOH IMAGING

Try their oldest browser "PENTAX PHOTO Browser , PENTAX PHOTO Laboratory" V 1.11 then you have a varieties of updates you can try starting from 2.5 and upwards .

Still however getting an external reader may be less of a hassle .

    Good Luck there .
