So looking at your usage you are currently using say 50GB's of storage (231GB-179GB). You could get by with 128GB but copying operation could be complicated.

To make this really easy I would look at say a Samsung 250GB drive.

SAMSUNG 860 EVO Series 2.5" 250GB SATA III V-NAND 3-bit MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-76E250B/AM -

This would ease the cloning process as Samsung's migration tool does look for a Samsung drive.

To do the clone you would need a way to temporarily connect drive. The cable should do the trick.

Sabrent USB 3.0 to SSD / 2.5-Inch SATA Hard Drive Adapter [Optimized For SSD] (EC-SSHD) -

Then to mount the ssd in box you will need a 2.5" to 3.5" mounting adapter. Something like this.

Corsair CSSD-BRKT1 SSD Mounting Bracket Kit 2.5" to 3.5" drive bay -

Now if you feel comfortable doing a clean install you could go with a 128GB SSD and the mounting tray adapter.

You would copy personal data out to either google drive, onedrive or any suitable cloud solution. Google drive, according to documentation, comes with 15GB.

Backup your data, power down, install drive, power on and clean install windows, then setup your email / browsers. Then copy your data back.

If I understand correctly, you'd need a USB to SATA adapter. They can be had for less than $10US. sata to usb -

I've used external SATA enclosures instead, but that was mainly because I replaced a 2.5" HDD with a same-sized SSD in a laptop. I also have an exteran SATA dock, but that's more expensive. (Useful tool, but I don't use it very often.)
