How to stop Windows Update from autodownloading/installing drivers?

Hello,

Does anyone know how I can stop Windows Updates from automatically downloading and installing device drivers?

I've used several registry hacks and the wushowhide.diagcab; however, so far, it doesn't seem to have worked.

Windows Update insists on automatically downloading and reinstalling very old Realtek and Intel drivers on one of my system and Asus drivers on another system.

Both are running Windows 10 Home 1909.

Thank you. I don't believe that turning OFF the custom icons and apps in the Device Installation Settings actually prevents Windows Update from downloading the device drivers, at least it didn't work for me.

I did the registry hack earlier today, so hopefully Windows will oblige this time.

It's nice to see that we'll have more control over the auto driver downloads in Windows Updates. It sucks that it'll be in 2004 build though.

This is a handy one if you only wish to prevent a specific device being updated.
I had to do it on an old computer on a SATA controller as Microsoft would keep updating it and breaking it.

No drivers can be installed without my permission.
