    Have you had problems since a recent update to Brother MFC-J5335DW?


    There was an update to my Brother Printer/Scanner MFC-J5335DW a few days ago - it installed v6.1.0.38.Since then, it will neither print nor scan using the unit's screen controls. It will print if I select a document and print using the Print command there.

    Brother Support are looking into the problem but are giving me the impression that no-one else had problems.

    It will help me in my discussions with them if I can establish whether any other customers has had problems.

    I'd appreciate hearing from you. Thanks.

    There are known print spooler issues with 19041.329, and Brother printers have been reported by others on this forum as being affected....

    Print spooler might error or close unexpectedly when attempting to print

    Known and Resolved issues for Windows 10 May 2020 Update version 2004

    ...those affected also report that 19041.331 fixes the issues. You will need to get the standalone installer from the Update Catalog, it won't be offered automatically in Windows Update. For the automatic update you would have to wait for next month's 'Patch Tuesday' cumulative update which will also include this fix.

    Many thanks @Bree. I'll certainly look into what you say regarding 19041.331.

    I installed the Brother update to v6.1.0.38 several days before the 1 Feature and 2 Quality updates to Windows so these WUs would have had no impact on my Brother unit.

    I hope that I'm not the only Brother user in the UK that's had this problem!
