    Hard Drive - Not installed


    My Dell inspiron 5559 which had Windows 10 is not detecting hard drive. It's stuck on showing Dell logo and nothing happens after that.
    I have another hard drive from old laptop which has Windows 7. But, this is not detected by the laptop. After changing the boot mode to legacy boot mode, it is detected but it is not going past the loading screen of windows 7. Any help is much appreciated.

    The old Win 7 drive seems to be Legacy - MBR and the new should be UEFI - GPT.
    The old win 7 drive wont boot as Win 7 isn't compatible with new hardware.

    Let's go back to the original Win 10 drive.
    Put it back on the laptop.
    Is it seen and recognized by BIOS? On boot priority do you see "Windows boot manager"?

    Download windows-10-recovery-tools
    Extract all files and folders from the windows-10-recovery-tools iso to a Fat32 USB drive (2G min).
    Boot from it on the laptop. Open Mini tool partition wizard. Can you see the laptop drive?

    Is the BIOS set correctly? Restore it to default values, save and reboot.
