I started reading this thread out of curiosity. My version of Windows 10 is 1909 build 18363.900 and I verified that KB4560960 is installed. I have two brother printers connected. A very old MFC-7420 and an old MFC-J885DW.

Brother provides no Windows 10 support for the MFC-7420 so this printer uses some generic driver provided by MS. The MFC-J885DW is supported by Brother.

I'm not experiencing any problems with either printer.

What type connection? Only issue I've seen involved the USB connection.

My connection problem is with wireless MFC-6490CW, but KB4567523 solved the problem.

Both printers are connected via USB.

Found this thread last month (June) and thought we'd figured out what caused out Brother MFC-6490CW to stop printing and figured we needed to wait for an update. Looks like that update has come out but didn't solve our problem, just changed it a little bit. Here's our timeline:

    Pre-June 2020 - wifi connection to printer, no problems (Win10 1903)
June 15, printer stopped accepting print jobs, wouldn't even show up in the spooler, no error message of any kind
June 15, found this thread, looked at update history, did not have KB4560960 installed
June 23 (by looking at the update history, didn't know at the time), KB4560960 installed itself - not sure if we'd tried printing again since then so I don't know if that update changed anything
July 15 (today), looked back at this thread to see there had been some updates, so here's what I did:
    - downloaded and tried to install KB4567512, it said it wasn't applicable to my installation
    - found this thread and went to try to install KB4560960 first since he said that was required before KB4567512, only to find that I couldn't (because it was already there)
    - checked the update history and found that KB4560960 had installed itself on 6/23, and just today KB4565483 had installed itself (which this article claims to fix everything)
    - tried to print, and the job showed up in the spooler, but immediately errored out (with a vague & unhelpful message)

So, I have KB4565483 installed (which replaces KB4560960), which probably is the reason I can't install KB4567512 since 5483 is somehow newer than 7512. And I still can't print, but at least now it throws error messages instead of silently failing.

To make things even wackier, I have a 2nd PC here, also Win10 1903, had given up trying to print to the Brother, Windows couldn't even find it over wifi to install it as a printer. That PC got KB4560960 on June 10 and when we were troubleshooting the first PC on June 15 I successfully installed the Brother over wifi & printed to it no problem, and still can today. This 2nd PC has not received KB4565483 nor KB4567512.

    Any ideas?
