How to identify what hardware is causing a hardware error

    Hello,

I have this PC which will freeze every now and then and maybe not boot correctly and have to reboot.
This is a brand new PC, it has about a month. I just installed Windows 10 1909 18363.836. Three days ago.

This has happened for a while, that's why I did a fresh install again (not a reset).I checked the events logs and reliability history and it shows hardware errors.

How can I see what is causing this?
The details do not show something that will point out what failed.
There's no c:\windows\minidump folder or file.

I'm suspecting it has something to do with the wi-fi card because sometimes it will fail and have to use ethernet, but would like to know for sure.

    Thanks in advance.

Edit: I would remove the wifi card and see if it still freezes but I haven't done it yet because of 2 reasons:
    1) I want to know if that fails so I will RMA it.
    2) It's my mom's PC and I did everything remotely, through video call and then TeamViewer. If I have to remove the card I'd have to go to her house which I would but I want to see first if I can identify the hardware causing these problems.

Is there a hardware diagnostic program you can run from the manufacturer?

    Hi there
usually a good source is to go into the device manager then look at the event viewer for that device.

    e.g
How to identify what hardware is causing a hardware error-dev.png

It´s also a good source to find out what driver its using and even find out what the hardware is -

    Cheers

I recommend gold-rated power supplies, because they are less likely to have bad capacitors or other bad components causing instability.

    Hi,Thank you all for answering.

    @Steve-c

No there isn't.It's a custom build and it's not a laptop.I didn't build it myself but paid for them to build it with what I chose and send it to my mom and sister's house.
So it's like every piece of hardware has its own warranty and I could claim just on the wifi card.
That's why I want to know if I can find out what specific piece of hardware is making it freeze or cause errors.

    @jimbo45

Didn't know that at all. Thanks! It's 1am now but will check it "tomorrow" with them, remotely.
I installed Windows and everything through video call and TeamViewer.

It's a brand new Thermaltake psu. I've recommend these to friends and never had a problem.

    Hello @RonAshman,

Can you please perform the following [ this checks for ANY Problem Device Errors ] . . .

[1] Goto this TenForums link => Batch Scripts / Programs.
[2] Goto the heading Find ANY Problem Devices . . .
[3] Download and Run the .bat file.

If there are ANY errors it will create a Prob_Devices.txt file on the Desktop!

[4] Upload the results => How to Upload and Post Screenshots and Files at Ten Forums.

    I hope this helps!

So after months of lockdown I visited and took her PC, I had with me for 8 days and found out the following: it's a problem with the gpu and it's common with that model.

    Mobo is ASRock A320M-HDV R4.03
GPU is ASRock Radeon RX 5600 XT Challenger.

For anyone having a similar problem: I downloaded the drivers from the same date it was manufactured (Feb 2020, v20.2.2) and it's been working fine. No problems after sleep or turning off screen.

I hope they fix it soon.

    Thank you all :)
