Touchpad Aggravating... Jumps All Over/New Windows/etc

    Morning...

Bought 2 Lenovo IdeaPad L340's last year... one 15"; other 17" (not that it matters)... both have identical touchpad issue... basically... can NOT stop tap-to-click.

Did everything I can think of... most drastic being... deleted all SYNAPTIC REGISTRY entries... virgin re-install W10 Home (media creation download)... have managed to "kill" most touchpad "features" but NOT one I need to... simply want a touchpad to MOVE cursor and CLICK buttons.

Been thru LENOVO methods... downloaded various drivers... no luck. I, NOW, suspect it's the WINDOWS 10 "Synaptics HID DEVICE" and/or "I2C HID Device" (REGISTRY Human Interface Devices) and/or "Synaptics Pointing Device" (Mice and Other pointing devices in REGISTRY).

Anyone have ANY ideas??? Want a "stupid generic touchpad" that works like a ordinary mouse. As a (mostly touch typist)... my productivity is 99% degraded.

    HELP!!

    Thanks in advance,
    Steve

    ps: win10 x64 up-to-date

    Welcome to tenforums.

Whilst I can appreciate the frustration, hacking things like that is much more likely to lead to intractable problems.

Your touchpad options depend on the driver installed- and don't just say Elan or Synaptics- there are at least 3 versions of Synaptics drivers with quite different GUIs.

Please post some screenshots of your touchpad's GUI options.

I am currently using an older Lenovo Thinkpad t440s, which has quite a range of touchpad options.

Just to give an idea, mine looks like this:

    can NOT stop tap-to-click
I guess that's these options (unchecked) in my case:

    Also consider reducing touchpad sensitivity.

You could of course simply disable the touchpad and use a mouse...
