[Share] Successfully installing Edirol UM-2 on Windows 10

First of all, all credit goes to this guy's blog: Make the Edirol or Roland UM-1 and UM-1X work on Windows 10 | Zodiacal Light

Basically you need to download the 8.1 drivers (32 or 64 bit as appropriate), then extract the files.

Then search the extracted folders for RDIF1009.INF or something similar. Modify the .inf file so all occurrences of "NTamd64.6.2" become "NTamd64.10.0". Then manually install the driver by going to device manager, right clicking on the "unknown device" (specifically the one with hardware ID USB\VID_0582&PID_0005) and "update driver...".

If you are running a 64-bit OS make sure also you have disabled driver signature enforcement.

Thanks for this. Very helpful. I used a slightly modified version for my Intel 32 bit processor running Windows 10 pro and it worked fine.

Just posting the details for Intel 32 bit.

In my case, I instead of searching for "NTamd64.6.2" I had to replace "NTx.86.6.2" with "NTx.86.10.0"

Basically you need to download the UM2_W81D_V....ZIP (32 or 64 bit as appropriate), then extract the files IN THE APPROPREATE SECTION 32 OR 64 BITS. MAKE A NEW FOLDER WITH NAME
EX. (EDIROL) AND EXTRACT THE FILE INTO IT. USE THIS FOLDER TO MAKE YOUR MODIFICATION.

Then search the extracted folders for RDIF1003.INF or something similar. Modify the .inf file BY DOUBLE CLICKING ON IT SO you can open it and see the literature. All occurrences of "NTamd64.6.2" become "NTamd64.10.0". MAKE THESE CHANGES AND DON'T FORGET TO SAVE THEM. I BELEIVE THERE ARE TWO OF THEM Then manually install the driver by going to device manager, right clicking on SOUND AND VIDEO etc. to black it out. then go to the top of device manager and open ACTION. FOLLOW THE PROCEEDURES TO INSTALL THE DRIVER MANUALLY. WHEN THE FILE RDIF1003.INF IS INSTALLED THEN YOU CAN PLUGIN THE MODULE INTO THE USB PORT AND THE DRIVER UM2 SHOULD SHOW UP IN THE DEVICE MANAGER (SOUND VIDEO ETC) WHEN YOU DOUBLE CLICK ON IT.
THIS IS THE OPTION THAT WORKED FOR ME.

to get it done you have to disable drive signing checks too...

i got 64 bit driver installed just now (which works with my 32 bit anvil studio by the way) by using option 2 here:
