Unknown Device: Asus Z490 Strix Gaming -E

I have just upgraded the motherboard on my workday PC and installed Windows 10 2004. Everything has gone well, but I have not been able to resolve an 'unknown device' /missing driver issue.

The location is shown as 'on Intel(R) Serial IO I2C Host Controller - 06E9'
and the hardware ID reads: 'ACPI\VEN_CYP&DEV_0002 ACPI\CYP0002 *CYP0002

    The Problem code reads -'0000001C'

Needless to say, I cannot download any drivers!

Has anyone come across this issue, who might be able to throw some light on this? Thanks

    Hmm ive seen similar before.

See if you can find in Device Manager, 'PCI Simple Communications Device' , If so this is more than likely it.

It could be the main boards manufacturer trying to install remote access metadata, so i would avoid until you can find out some more information on it. Some file names here to have a look into and avoid for now.

    SMBus
    AMDA00 ASMBSW.inf
    ATK0110 AsAcpi.inf ACPI Utility

    Stay safe

I have looked for 'PCI Simple Communications Device', but cannot find any mention in the device manager locations. I will look at your other possibilities.
    Thanks

Not a problem and I just curious if you did use Asus Forum and or Asus Technical Support to ask about the Intel(R) Serial IO I2C Host Controller - 06E9 missing driver!

    No I haven't. What a good idea! I'll give it a try.
I'm still playing around and I am now wondering whether the issue may be related to USB-C, which is all new to me. I'll delve some more and look at Asus Forum. Thanks again.

    Brilliant!
Thank you very much. That did the trick and installed the missing driver - and it was related to usb-c! Thanks to all.
