    Update drivers.

HP ENVY Recline Touch Smart All in One – 27-k309
    Windows 10 Home 64 bit
    --------------------------------------
There are 9 driver updates available for my computer on the HP website.
My computer has not had any issues nor did I get notification about the need to update the HP drivers.
Would it be better in this case to leave the PC as it is or should I update those available drivers.
I am reluctant to proceed after reading several accounts of things going wrong after driver updates.

If Windows Update is working, and your PC is working, there should be no need. What advantage would you expect?

I have never heard, as far as I can think, of anyone reporting their PC had wonderful new features or ran twice as fast as a result of driver updates if their PC was already running well.

Thank you for the reply. I actually had no idea what to expect from a driver update, but have read negative comments about doing it. I am glad to read that it is not necessary.

PC enthusiasts such as myself tend to update drives as they insure the PC "continues" running well. I say continues as we're always adding software/hardware so the PC that was once running great is now not doing so well now. With that one of the first things most troubleshooters do is look for driver updates. The first thing most advise when troubleshooting PC issues is... update the drivers.

Yes, there is the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it mentality, but that doesn't always hold true in computers as explained above. Sometimes there are no easy answers but the prevailing ones tend to be more right... update the drivers.

Lastly, just because Johnny had an issue doesn't mean Joe will

    My two cents.

    Life lesson learned:
"If it ain't broke don't fix it!"

Yep, perhaps the only time to be concerned about drivers is when there's a particular identifiable issue. Sometimes a bad driver version is released; sometimes people especially with older possibly unsupported PCs have to use and stay with older versions than MS delivers.
