    Webcam driver issue

Not sure if it IS driver, but seems likely to me.
! I bought a UVC webcam for my wife's PC, not intentionally UVC but that's what we got!
It turns off all audio devices when plugged into USB slot. I couldn't find how to get any sound, after trying all the fixes I could see. So I swapped my webcam for hers, and the UVC camera seems incompatible with MY windows 10, as well as hers.
The picture flashes strangely and you can't watch the image, eg on zoom.
The HUGE manual that came with it is about the size of a large postage stamp, and this says "Download potplayer" and then gives me settings to follow. This results in a perfectly good image, but only in potplayer.
I thought, rather naively I could make potplayer my default app for webcam but can't see how to do that.
I've tried to find a driver that will allow the webcam to be used in Zoom, but to no avail.
Any advice welcome- either to overcome the sound issue on my wifes pc or my flashing image in mine. My winver is 1909, build 18363.836. THANK YOU!

Maybe it helps when you give brand and type of the Webcam.

Thanks- agreed if it were possible. I bought it via ebay and apart from the box telling me it was made by Shenzhen Aidu Technology Webcam driver issue-aaaaa.jpg I am none the wiser. Clearly from the number of ebay sellers of this specific device, it's "standard" but for me it gives problems. Sorry I'm so unhelpful

I am not experienced in Webcams, but:
    - is Webcam present in Devices and is firmware up-to-date?
    - does the Webcam shows its settings window, which you can adjust and is the problem only a video/audio issue?
    - if yes, and potplayer plays correctly, you may think at a missing Codec (probably m3u or m3u8).

Thanks, PiKo, for your help so far.
Webcam is present in device manager and shows up at UVC Camera (under "cameras"). I don't know how to check its firmware- the camera properties is unhelpful or I'm just stupid.
Having wandered around my pc quite extensively I can't find ANY camera settings window. The "manual" seems to direct me to potplayer as the answer to everything. But all it says is:
    C= Webcam Setting
    Download Software:Potplayer.
    From Website:https//potplayer.en.softonic.com/
    1:Open Video:Potplayer-Open-Device settings
    2:Webcam-Device(UVC Camera)-Format(1920*1080 59.94)-Audio Device
(WASAPI-Capture Input terminal (Hisilicon HD Audio))-Open Device
    3:More Setting

I read that as open "potplayer" (I downloaded it), find "webcam" then select the settings they suggest. I'm going to try the webcam on my laptop to see if it's the webcam or my pc. As I said, the video works fine on my wifes pc but the connection into the usb socket promptly kills all audio.
    Ann advice or commiserations welcome

I tried it on my laptop and video was fine. However no sound, just as on my wife's PC, so I think there's an incompatibility. No idea how to sort this- the camera shows as "HiCamera" on the devcie manager of my laptop.

    Management-Device Manager-your Webcam-right click-update driver
Under properties: is a driver installed? Specific driver or generic MS driver?
Googling with Webcam Potplayer, the first hit was:
How to Use Potplayer to Record Webcam Video | Journey Bytes
    Maybe this link is helpful.

I did a test with my USB Logitech webcam and the vlc player. It worked. Video and sound.

    UVC Camera

I just got one of these cameras in the mail.
I believe Potplayer is just a free media player and does not include any drivers.
The windows drivers should automatically load when you plugged in the camera.
    Under Device Manager:
    1. Audio inputs and outputs - You should see Capture Input terminal (AC Interface)
    This is your microphone Drive
    2. Imaging devices - You should see UVC Camera
    This is the Video Driver

You need to make sure you select these two devices in whichever app you are using on your computer.

In your Recording devices you need to make sure the volume is set properly and Capture Input terminal is set as the default Device.

This may be a little late for you but hope it helps.
