Asus MAximus X Code MB will not update Chipset

I cannot get the chipset to update to the latest version listed on Asus website for this motherboard.

Stuck at 10.1.1.38. There are two subsequent releases, the latest being 10.1.18295.8201 dated 2020/04/24.

    Running Win 10 V1909, build 18363.836
Intel Management Engine 1914.12.0.1256 (Latest on Asus site)
BIOS V2301 (Latest on Asus site)

If I try either of the more recent chipset drivers they run successfully, say the driver was installed but nothing appears to be updated when checking device manager, even after a restart.

I know there are lots of Asus users with similar series boards. (Asus Maximus x370)

    Any known solution?

(Yes I know if current driver works I don't have to update. I wish to update to be current with offerings on the manufacture's site)

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

You're checking in the wrong places to see if chipset drivers have been updated.
Look in either Programs & features:

    Or look in Regedit Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Intel\InfInst

Thanks Cliff. Indeed in registry it is recorded correctly.

    and in Apps

Should this not show some where in device manager?

Nope, it is not an actual driver, more a driver list for Windows, so it can download and update the correct drivers for your motherboard. And also show the correct name of said drivers.
Thats the simple explanation, here is a deeper dive: What Is A Chipset Driver, And How To Install It? | DESKDECODE.COM

Actually Intel doesn't call it a driver but Chipset Software Installation Utility or Chipset INF Utility.

    Addendum:
    About this file/download

The Intel Chipset Device Software installs the Windows* INF files. An INF is a text file that provides the operating system with information about a piece of hardware on the system. In the case of the current Intel Chipset Device Software, that information is primarily the product name for the piece of hardware. This allows the operating system to show the correct name for that piece of hardware in Device Manager.

Note: The Intel Chipset Device Software does not install drivers for AGP or USB. Do not download this utility if your device manufacturer is recommending it to correct an "AGP driver," "AGP GART," or "USB driver" issue; it will not correct your issue.

So if I call in the Asus Update utility it says my 10.1.1.38 is superceded by 10.1.1.44 and it calls it a driver.

I guess it should just be ignored.

I never use that tool, it always offers the wrong drivers, and tools like that have been attack vectors.
Better to go look for the drivers on the board's support page or in the forums(ROG).
