    Not quite like mine, I have an E7270.

    I've long struggled to decipher Dell's numbering system for the Latitude Ennnn range. The first digit represents the generation of the model range, the second seems to be the last digit of the screen size (I also have an E7440 which is basically the same as your E7240 but with a 14" screen). I've not found a pattern for the last two digits, but higher numbers seem to be more recent models.

    My E7440 is a 2014 model and doesn't have the Firmware entry either, my E7270 is a 2016 model and does have one.

    I've also noticed the Latitude's indicate the screen size with the second number, e.g. with my E7240 the 2 indicates the 12", my Latitude 3340 is a 13" and have a couple E6410 that are the 14".

    Well, to complete the set my last Dell Latitude is an E4310. I like the Latitude range, the seem to be well built and (an important consideration when buying older machines) Dell's service manuals provide full dismantling instructions.

    I've always like the Latitude series, my first more than a few years ago was a refurb D810. I was disappointed that the E series couldn't use the interchangeable ODD and Floppy drives from the D series because the drives were too thick to fit the bay.

    See, now you guys have got me looking everywhere!

    On a desktop, home-built, Sandy Bridge-E, X79 chipset, W10 Home - no Firmware entry.

    On my Wife's HP Laptop, Intel 7th gen, W10Home - she has 3 entries!
    "Device Firmware" listed twice, and "Firmware Resource".
    All have MS 10.0.18362.1 'driver', dated 6/21/2006
    No Firmware Tab on any.

    I would have looked more but my wife is WFH. I waited until she went to get a drink and swooped in to check. She chased me out with a broom!

    I would have to modify the date fields for the USA.
    Useful, thanks.
    @compumind

    I've added a batch file variant of the 'BIOS version' script to my post #46

    Actually, I don't think that any change to date formats is required for either of them but you can do so if desired
    - The vbs script retrieves & displays the date in yyyymmdd format
    - The batch script retrieves the date in mm/dd/yyyy format [whatever regional date settings are in force] then re-arranges it into yyyymmdd {in the section 'PostProcessing'} for display
