    Connecting external devices to pc

Until a few months ago, whenever I connected and disconnected a camera or external memory to my W10 desk-top pc, it was acknowledged in some way on connection and when I clicked on the appropriate icon in the notificatios area prior to disconnecting, I was given clearance to go ahead.
This no longer happens but I do still get a warning if the device is still 'talking' to the pc in any way.
How can I bring back this reassuring confirmation on connection and disconnection?
    Thanks

    Hi there.

    Just to clarify ...

Do you get the sound when a USB device is connected or disconnected ???

Do you get the Autoplay message asking you what you want to do with the device?

and it sounds like you are no longer getting the "Safe to Remove" message when you eject a device.

i would have asked the shop to switch off any sounds, when they created the pc. I have never had a peep out of it, which is how I want it.
I don't remember having been asked regularly what I want to do with it, I think it was just an acknowledgement of connection, but I might be wrong.
Correct; I no longer get the 'safe to remove' which I would like to have again.
    Thank you for your interest.
I tried to help myself to solve this problem but I can't think of any likely Microsofty words to describe this situation.

Unless something's actually broken, these may be of interest: confirm they are set correctly:
