    And remember what I said... you're outside rated parameters at your own risk. No one is ever going to guarantee that older laptops can run operating systems they were never designed for for ever.

    Nothing to get angry about. And certainly not Sony's fault.

    My VHS video recorder has SCART sockets. If I buy a TV in 2020, I can be sure of it being compatible, can't I?

    I do not think I am going to solve this issue as like you say the Sony laptop was not built to work with Windows 10 but Windows 8 and further more Sony do no longer make laptops with Windows OS.
    The owner of the laptop never used the integrated camera and was only going to use it for ZOOM whilst this pandemic crisis last after which he would not use it again. His only alternative is to buy an external webcam but he is not that bothered so we have to give up.
