RAM not being detected by PC

RAM not being detected by PC-bb2fba01-73d1-45ca-9a53-9b6920ff3f52.jpegHi

Update one of the locking clips is missing ( can these be replaced ? ) so hopefully the stick will still stay in ok
i bought two identical PCs in 2013, I paid for 2x4GB ram for each and thought nothing more of it, as each PC reported 8 GB RAM, which was what I expected. I have just dismantled one of the PCs to sell the components and found it had
2x 8GB RAM When I checked the other PC, it had the same 2x8GB RAM....so I installed the working PC with all 4 sticks, making 32 GB RAM, but it now reports 16GB RAM total.....the BIOS reports 16GB RAM.....the motherboard
Apparently the Motherboard can accept up to 64 GB RAM, so shouldn’t be an issue, any help please ? P.S. both motherboards had new CMOS batteries fitted a few weeks ago, so that didn’t change anything

Each chip has a label 8GB

Are you sure that the RAM is not two 8GB (2 x 4GB) kits?

If each of these pairs of RAM has only shown up as 8GB for the last 7 years why would you expect it to do something different now?

Try removing 3 of the RAM sticks & see what you get - I'm expecting 4GB EDIT like your screenshot indicates

EDIT 2 Your freshly added photograph of the RAM label clearly tells you "4G x 2"

But EACH stick says 8GB XL looks like each one should be 8GB, or if I bought two at the same time, would they put an 8 GBN label on EACH, which covers the two.....seems a strange idea......would explain a lot though.....

Kits are frequently labelled with the total capacity of the kit.

If you Google the kit reference it will tell you that it is a G,Skill Ripjaws 8GB (2 x 4GB) kit

Going by that and the image the OP posted it also says that on the kit (4Gx2) = 8gig.

@reddwarf4ever, please show us the "Memory" tab in CPU-Z, not just the SPD tab.
