13 drives - 1 has a different context menu, what am i missing?

So I have 13 disks. internal and external. ALL have identical context menus but 1. It is just seen differently than the others on some level. Anyone have any idea whats causing the discrepancy with autoplay missing? They are ALL the same type of drive to. Make/model/brand/size. 0 differences.

    12 drives

seems it has something to do with being viewed as external. odd considering theyre most definitely not.

I mean some of them are. Even the ones that are, I have quick remove disabled and write caching enabled which to my understanding should make them identify as the opposite.

So my ONE oddball drive is actually right, its the other 12 that are wrong lol.

That drive must have an autorun.inf file or something at root folder.

I wish it were that simple. I checked them all for autorun files. (It would have to be almost all of them because almost all of them show the open auto play entry)

I was up late hammering on it. Going back at it after I have some coffee

    Appreciate the suggestion though.

    Good day.

Another shot in the dark. Open up hardware manager. Look for that specific drive and delete it. Reboot. See if something changes.

Hey, thanks - I'll give that a try, cause why not :)

still worth reiterating, its not that one drive. The "one" drive is the one that does not show autoplay in the context menu. Evidently that is correct, as its an internal drive so it shouldnt. Its the others that are wrong lol.

    super weird behavior.

For example, if the drives were all identified as removable, they would show up in the "safely remove" tray icon. They dont, only the externals do.

If i open the bitlocker menu and look at the drive breakdown, it lists the proper drives as Fixed, and the proper drives as Removable.

However if i open the context menu in explorer, removables have autoplay (as they should), however so do all my non-removables barring 2. 1 is the system drive (C) and the other is (G). E: F: H: I: J: all have the autoplay entry as if theyre removable.

something is borked somewhere in the registry. No idea where.

After my macrium backup is done running im gonna remove a drive and restart to see what happens, not holding my breath though as I ran a chkdsk which forces a dismount early on in my troubleshooting and it bore no fruit.

Sometimes i loathe windows, doesnt pair well with humans who are ocd :P
