    Admin store blocked access

here’s hoping this in the correct forum. Ah well here goes:

Currently using Windows10 but have a problem
Disk Management will not run - I get a message "An Administrator has block access...etc".
So far have tried a number of Internet suggested solutions: Disable Smart Screen - no good. Ran SFC and DISM thinking may have corrupt system files - no good. followed a suggestion to edit UA setting in registry - useless, Did a repair install but even that does not make the problem go away. anything obvious i am missing or any other suggestions welcome. Thanks

    Welcome to Ten Forums @Martelcs

Disk Management is a snap-in for the Microsoft Management Console (mmc.exe). You may also find that other mmc snap-ins such as Services don't run either.

You could try opening a Command Prompt (Admin) and running the mmc snap-in directly, type DISKMGMT.MSC then press the Enter key.

If it still won't run, see if this thread can help.

Did this start when you changed a disk or a hardware driver?

I used to get problems trying to run Disk mgmt when an SD card was connected until I had another an update to my SD card reader driver.

    Administrator blocked access

    Hi.
My thanks to Bree for his tip on using DSKMGMT.MSC from the command prompt. Pleased to say this works, however... This feels like treating the symptoms not the disease. If I use Windows Key + x this brings up a menu which offers Disk Management as an option. This should do “what it says on the tin” but doesn’t- get the Administrator blocked access error instead.
I can live with the solution Bree has kindly offered but I would still like to understand at some point why the “proper” menu route does not work. Bear in mind that I have done a repair install to try to solve. Thanks anyway. Martel

    Martel,

    You could try
1 creating another user to see if the problem is limited to your current user account, and
2 booting into Safe mode to see if Windows has the problem [as seems to be the case] or if the problem is being forced on it by an installed application.
