Looking to buy a PC microphone

I'd like to get a microphone to connect to my PC. It only needs to be suitable for voice use and quality.

I currently have a headset and the mike works but is clumsy to use.

Would a USB mike be OK or does it need to be connected by a 3.5mm jack?

    Any suggestions?

Isn't a separate mic even clumsier to use than a headset?

If you want ergonomics, buy a 1 ear mono headset with microphone that are used by businesses. You can listen to a conference call while monitoring whether your wife is telling you something, or whether somebody is delivering stuff to your door.

The choice of ubs vs 3.5mm is mostly related to whether you know how to set microphone volume and sensitivity on the realtek driver. Most of the time, people give up on setting up their 3.5mm microphone and buy a usb microphone instead.

My microphones don't record my voice as loud as I speak

IF you know how to set it up properly (that's a big if), they are good enough for doctors and lawyers for speech recognition software --- which is pretty much the gold standard for voice quality.
