    HP Laptop battery ?

    Just purchased a:
    HP - Spectre x360 2-in-1 15.6" 4K Ultra HD Touch-Screen Laptop
Wondering if leaving it plugged in all the time will hurt the battery.
99.9% of the time it is on my desk.
Also - better to turn it off at night or leave it on 24/7

The answer really all depends on who you ask. If you read about Lithium battery care and longevity at a place like

the answer is simple. I have many higher power Lithium batteries that are too expensive to replace so I'm uptight about battery maintenance.

I have my laptop plugged into a powerbar that is easily within reach and cycle my battery between about 40% and 90% or 95%. I set my Windows battery low setting to 45% which causes the display to dim slightly, reminding it's time to energize the charger. An app I use called Battery Limiter allows to set a high and low audible/visual alarm. Many others will swear it doesn't matter.

PS; I never leave my battery cooking overnight. I've learned from past experience with several work laptops that lived powered. The battery standby time was much shorter than design.

One HP notebook battery would no longer charge and was replaced under warranty.
The replacement battery remains in the box.
    The battery was never charged.
The notebook is used as a desktop replacement.
This area has not had an electrical outage for years.
If there were an outage I'd use another notebook that has a battery that is always fully charged.

Like you I wonder which is better.
Never charging the new battery until it is needed versus leaving it fully charged in its charging bay.

My HP ProBook has a BIOS option to limit battery charging to 80% of maximum charge which HP claims preserves battery life. I decided to use it.

For long term storage apparently a Lithium ion battery is best stored at about 30-40% charged.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to finish setting it up the way I want it and then decide what to do battery wise based on info here - thanks - will be bookmarking this thread.
