    Hi there

    @dukat

    Never EVER use storage spaces -- they break easily and often fail between releases due to incompatibilities etc etc.

    If you need large aggregate storage space get a RAID controller, use a system of JBOD (just a bunch of Disks) or use a Linux Virtual Machine with Software raid (aggregate the volumes as physical volumes for the Virtual machine and set up software RAID via MDADM -- very reliable and fast).

    Now share the appropriate volumes with Windows -- much safer and not subject to the vagaries of Windows updates.

    IMO Windows need to have a proper SOFTWARE RAID system --I've said that for ages -- Storage spaces just don't cut it !!! -- also using proprietary file systems that can only be written / read by other Windows computers just is too limiting if I'm storing large amounts of data on them.

    Others may disagree but I've tried messing around with Storage spaces ever since W7 days -- always eventually ends in tears.

    Cheers

    It usually means your Storage pool is in Read-only state, use Powershell command to bring it back. Do not rely on Control Panel applet.

    Because I use Storage spaces for years and routinely, replaced physical disks & repaired virtual disks many times, I think I can tell: When an administrator is competent, Storage Spaces are very reliable and usable RAID solution. Please do not force me to repeat this again and again, it is better to be quiet.

    For the record, that it is the version 2009 or whatever it will be called. 19041 is the upcoming 2004.
