[HELP!] PC had a freeze, after a restart, killed peripherals.

So the other day my PC completely froze, and both my keyboard and mouse stopped working. I had to reset it by force, which should be ok, I guess, there's no other way...

After I reset my PC, everything worked fine except my keyboard and mouse, they both, literally died.
They get their coresponsive HID and keyboard detection, but other than that they don't work.

They both light up, they both look like they work when connected, but they just don't.

Connected them on multiple machines, their drivers get installed, Windows recognizes them, but they don't work.

So what I did is I got USBDeview to check if it actually knows the exact name of these components, the RAT mouse and Bloody keyboard.

    It didn't. Ok...

Went to download Bloody/Rat software to check if they can recognize them, they couldn't either.

I have never seen this issue before, I have no idea if it's even possible to fix them, since they don't work on any other machine.

So, they get recognized as USB components, but not as the actual device they're supposed to be.

I tried even connecting them to android phone, not even that works.

Did this frozen PC RAM crash, actually kill these 2 hardware components? If so why do both light up and get drivers installed on Windows, yet don't work?

    Any solutions?

You mentioned this machine is dual boot. If you boot to alternate OS do USB devices work?

I expect no. Long shot but worth a shot.

Hold shift key down and click shutdown in Windows 10. This just bypasses Windows Fast Startup on the next startup.

When machine is powered down unplug from wall. Wait five minutes, plug back in and power on.

I might also load defaults in BIOS just to allow CMOS to be reset. Of course you would have to know any and all mods you made so that you can reapply.

I would try the power fix first.

All of my USB ports work, and any new keyboard and mouse I put in, works just fine.
It's specifically these 2 hardware components that died after the PC crashed.

And like I sad they don't work on any machine now. Like laptop, android phone.. etc.

They do get power, they get backlit, sensor has flashing red light, but no clicks... nothing..
It's like it fried some component on both motherboards or something.

Literally got both of these recently.
My PC works completely fine after it crashed.

But I can't understand what can cause both keyboard and mouse to die from a computer freezing up. Either my PSU is garbage, or something seriously went wrong, and if it happens again it can just kill something else.

Resetting battery just put clock to 00:00.
    BIOS is fine, stock.

Windows 7 works, but same issue with keyboard and mouse.
I'm starting to think that power shock actually did something to them.

Don't think I've ever seen that.

I wonder if one of them shorted and the load it pulled on the USB header blew both.

Do either of the manufactures have a forum? If this happened to you it has likely happened to others.

No, I haven't found anything like this. Only similar problems where there's HID detected but as controller, but they do work. Mine connects but doesn't work.

Now I have no clue if I should pursue to fix this, or if these components are completely long gone.
Too bad I can't even open up the mouse, to maybe disconnect and connect back the USB cable.

I can't find a disassembly tutorial for R.A.T v1 anywhere on the internet.

Well as you say, and I missed, the don't even work on other computers. That would say to me something they are fried.

I've been searching "shorted" keyboards. There is one from Vengence, I know not yours, where the member reports it lights up but nothing else works.

Just as an off-chance, have you tried resetting them? https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...f-ff2c6ceb5155

I opened up the mouse by force. Everything looks in prestine condition. Doesn't seem like there's any damage. This thing is like EMP.

It literally doesn't recognize it as mouse. Just USB HID.

and you said they don't work on other devices. So it is not this specific OS on this machine. That would indicate to me something has be change in devices. Possibly their firmware.

You assume that the electric shock caused circuits on both to reset their firmw?
