When large size SSD were expensive HP installed small SSD with HD on this business style notebook.
The SSD was only flash cache.
The SSD could not be used for storage.

The computer booted faster with the flash cache.
It's slower than a SSD boot and faster than a HD boot.

To make the HD work with the SSD flash cache, Intel rapid storage technology (IRST) software is used.
    The IRST displays RAID 0.
(750 GB HD with 30 GB flash cache)
    (both are SATA)

This is a RAID 0 where the 750 GB HD is used with a 30 GB SSD for a faster boot.
There is no option to use the SSD for storage (the only option is flash cache).

Just curious. How does it show in Device Manager?

My recent Dell Inspiron has an Intel Optane enabled coupled to a 1TB HDD and shows as below in Device Manager

Options to recover a RAW recovery partition or create a new one-17-03-2020-21-30-39.jpg.

Please check on this Intel Rapid Storage Technology will no longer be updated [EOL] notice . May or may not be applicable to your system. You have to decide after carefully reading it.

Fortunately My Dell Inspiron came with Intel Optane Memory and Storage Management App and updates to this will be available only through Windows Store.

The 32 GB SSD flash cache does not appear in device manager or file explorer.

It does appear when using Crystal Disk.

It was configured by HP for flash cache and not configured for storage.
Its never been used or attempted to be used for storage.

There were some notable differences in commands and results when run in Windows RE versus Windows on the recovery partition.

Chkdsk switches displayed no problems when ran in windows RE selecting all drive letters displayed in lis par and lis vol and using the letter T:

Using Windows instead of Windows RE: Chkdsk switches displayed:
The type of the file system is RAW.
Windows supports re-evaluating bad clusters on NTFS volumes only.

Format was ran in addition to format quick.

Format ran up to 100% but then failed.

There were only two chkdsk reports after running the switches (windows instead of windows RE) on all partitions: C: and K:

Somehow the chkdsk /b /v followed by format instead of format quick worked.

The recovery partition RAW was fixed.

For partition 4 detail partition lost its labeled drive letter and became NTFS.

Reagentc /info now displays enabled after running reagent /enable.

After fixing the recovery partition it displays NTFS.

There was no change using Test Disk.
    @jumanji

What do you think happened with Test Disk?
    It's a 750 GB HD.
Any other steps so that it can be used as a tool in other threads?

Does it first need a new drive label?
Any other steps to get the app to test the recovery partition?

The fourth partition should show as HTFS NTFS. I don't know why it is not showing so. Go to Folder options > View and unhide the hidden drives if you haven't done it already and then run TestDisk and check. ( Just to know how the screen should appear highlight Partition 2 and see.)

If still the fourth partition is not shown as NTFS , it may be possible to do it by highlighting [Type] and processing further. Check. ( I haven't ever done this before and you are as good as me in this situation )

To recoup, I advise the procedure to check whether the boot sector and MFT are OK before running check disk for if checkdisk is run in a grossly faulty drive it may abort midway and that will make matters worse in data recovery with all data scrambled and strewn all over...

Since You have already run checkdisk and found that it returned the all good message, this procedure to find out whether the boot sector and MFT are OK is no longer relevant in your case.

Were these what you were referring to for unhide?
folders>file explorer options > view tab > hide empty drives unchecked
hidden files and folders > dot in show hidden files, folders, and drives

    Test Disk
clicked no log > disk proceed > Intel > analyse > quick search > displayed [Recovery] > No Partition found or selected for recovery > deeper search

The recovery appeared when clicking analyse

    Folder Options:
Options to recover a RAW recovery partition or create a new one-19-03-2020-11-05-21.jpg

If Drive letter is Missing, give one

    TestDisk:

If Disk is MBR choose [Intel]
    If GPT select [EFI GPT]

TestDisk by default indicates the Partition table type found. Change it only if you are sure it is not correct.

[Analyse] only to do Partition Recovery. If Quick Search does not find the partition/s then Deeper Search. When Deeper Search finds the Missing Partitions ,
[List] to check all the folders and files are listed. If OK [Write] to write the Partition table. As a matter of abundant caution, I always advise OPs to copy all the folders and files listed to another disk and then only write the partition table.

    [Advanced] to check file system.

    How to find if Volume Boot sector is OK and MFT is OK which I advise before running checkdisk on a raw drive.;

Give me sometime to put the screenshots running the TestDisk on my external drive. Will return after sometime.

It was not able to identify the recovery partition in the applicable menu.
