    HP Probook470 G1 Failing Driver

    Hi everyone,

I am getting BSOD and I asked for help here, you can check it out here:
    HP Probook470 G1 Shutdown Issue

After a lot of troubleshooting I understood that my HpqKbFiltr64.sys is failing. (According to Windows Driver Verify)

I Installed the latest drivers from:
    https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers...17?sku=E9Y75EA

Do anybody know where can I find working driver or how can I fix this?

    Thanks a lot!

There was a problem in 2018 with some Windows updates installing that driver even if it wasn't needed.

could you try to rename that driver to let's say ._old?

Description is found here on Bleepingcomputer

It should be done from recovery - command prompt:

    Code:
    ren C:\Windows\System32\drivers\HpqKbFiltr64.sys HpqKbFiltr64.sys_old

    Thanks for reply,

I just tried that. Problem is still there but now my touch pad and keyboard does not work.
Do you have any other suggestions?

    Thanks!

I have read over your thread in BSOD section.

You can rename (back to original name) driver in question, or reinstall it from HP site.

As I can understand, your true problem is that you can not shutdown without system crash. Correct?

    - you have already disabled fast start in Windows (powercfg -h off)
    - this doesn't occur in safe mode ?
    - does this occur with different Windows User? (you can make new one for testing)

Not there yet, but, in-place repair would do no harm

Yeah, exactly. That leads to my other problems (windows cant finish updates etc)...
    Driving me crazy...

Yeah, I disabled fast boot. In safe mode I did not have any problems.
I just tried making different user and problem is still there, no progress sadly.

What do you mean by in-place repair?

Thanks a lot for your support!

Unfortunately Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade involves restarting computer too. Oh, can you restart, or is this problematic?

Maybe it could help to rebuild all files that are accessed by shutdown / restart..

Restart is problem also, everything that includes shutting pc down, even for a second.

I did clean install couple of times at beggining (few months ago), hoping that will solve the issue but it did not help.

Does that mean in-place repair will still have an impact?

    Not sure...

Can you try to restart without battery? Admit, I have no straight plan here, just eliminating stuff. So, shutdown ( I know - problems), take out laptop's battery, and try it that way

I tried that too, without success.
In BSOD thread we pretty much tested all common hardware things, you can check it out and let me know if there is anything we did not tried.

I think(and hope) that I just one misbehaving driver is causing that.

Anyhow, thanks a lot for your help!

I see it this way - one of your devices is preventing shutdown. Could be wrong power plan, problematic device (if it is part of your motherboard - like bluetooth chip or similar), you can't do much about it, or wrong driver.

Too bad you can't install that HP support assistant utility - why is that? What is the message you get?

Could be paging file - could you reset it? Although, it would be cleared with clean install, and you did that.

When I install software on HP systems, there are very few drivers I get from HP:
    - chipset - this is the first (laptop manufacturers often do something their way..)
    - BIOS
    - power plan settings

all of the other drivers are usually installed from Windows - including keyboard and similar

    Update:

found this on HP forums - have no ide, but some users said it worked.
Open elevated command prompt, and type:

    Code:
    bcdedit /set disabledynamictick yes
Update 2: one user reported, that enabling virtualization in BIOS helped him
