    Scanner error after it has been idle for some time


    Hello,

    We've recently upgraded our PC's from windows 7 to Windows10 and are using a KODAK i1420 scanner to scan documents and save them on our server. We scan multiple times per day, sometimes with a half hour interval in between. Since the upgrade, we've been getting a strange error message when we initialise the scanner:

    When we turn the scanner on and off again, the error does not show up anymore until a half hour later when we want to scan a new batch of documents.

    Things I have tried so far:

    - In power management I disabled the selective USB interruption after which I rebooted the PC
    - In Device Manager, I disabled the option that the computer is allowed to put the device to sleep on all USB-roothubs and stuff, rebooted
    - I inserted the scanner in another USB-port, rebooted

    Or could this be an issue with the scanner driver. By looking at the error (KDISIS01) I start to think there might be something wrong with the ISIS-drivers of the scanner.

    Anyone who might have a clue?

    Hi, you've not said whether the scanner is said to be compatible with Win 10.

    i1420 Scanner Drivers
    indicates it was tested to Win 8.

    Unfortunately your error message is in Dutch.

    Have you contacted Kodak support-
    Contact >> KODAK Drivers & Downloads

    or a support/user forum where other users of this scanner may have appropriate experience?

    Try searching for e.g.
    KODAK i1420 scanner "windows 10"

    FWIW I found this:

    DriverMax is a driver updater which I have used a couple of times to find otherwise unavailable drivers.Download and install Kodak KODAK i1420 Scanner - driver id 1570752

    That refers to a driver version claiming it to be compatible with Win 10.
    However, driver compatibility for older kit could change from Windows build to Windows build.

    You could try installing the driver in compatibility mode.

    The error message states:

    A scanner error has occured: -1
    scans might have been lost, please check that all documents in the output tray have been scanned
    TWCC_OPERATIONERROR

    I have checked if the scanner is compatible. The scanner itself is working, however the error message is a bit annoying. Could this be an incompatibility issue?

    So far I have not contacted another forum yet, as I believe the error is related to Windows 10 and not the scanner. I will look into it.

    One thing you might consider doing is determining the process from which the message originates.
    E.g. using the target from MS's Procmon (drag it onto the window) or e.g. WinSpy:
