USB 3.0 Support In Macrium Rescue Media

I have an external USB 3.0 enclosure that I'd like to start using for some of my Macrium Backups. Macrium is able to access it when its run from within Windows10 but when I use the Macrium Boot Menu, a USB Rescue Drive, and also a bootable Macrium partition the USB 3.0 enclosure is not reachable. Macrium is using WINPE10 Ver 1709.

From what I've learned so far I need to copy USBHUB3.SYS and USBHUB3.INF from the driveresopitory folder into the C:\boot\macrium\Drivers folder and then have Macrium add these drivers to the rescue media. Is this correct?

Hmm, I have made Macrium USBs with both PE and RE and both include compatible USB 3.0 drivers, I have never had to include, let alone copy drivers for USB and I use a USB3.0 external HDD on a USB 3.0 connector to image to using the Macrium boot USB.
You could try this option.

Make sure you have the latest version of Macrium Reflect Free and you have made boot media from that version. As stated, if that doesn't work, check the drivers in the Win PE boot media.v5 - Adding drivers to WinPE rescue media (drivers, Windows PE)

This was a self inflicted wound. I forgot that I had used Win10 Storage Spaces to create a pool with two HDD in the USB 3 Enclosure. Naturally this is going to be readable without first booting in to Win10.

Yeah, that would do it.

UPDATE: @Pejole2165 @spunk The real cause of this problem was that I had created the Macrium Rescue environment from WinPE that was based on V1709. When I recreated it with WinRE that is created on V1903, I was able to access the storage pool on the USB 3 enclosure. Definitely learned something about WinPE vs WinRE today.

I think the general consensus is that using WinRE is less troublesome and more compatible than PE.

After today I’m convinced. Just finished changing it on 2 of my 4 PCs. The other 2 tomorrow. It’s a lot of work to change because I have USB rescue drives for each as well as Macrium rescue bootable partitions in addition to the Macrium boot entry on the boot menu, in addition to refreshing the backup images. This stuff keeps us busy doesn’t it?

I find as I get older I need these sort of challenges to stay alert and healthy.
