Stop Windows 1909 from Trying to Initialize / mount DRIVE!

I know, I read the tutorial and DID disable Automount. I want to put a TIVO drive in and run software (DVRBars) to back up the TIVO Drive, however, if Windows in ANY way does anything to this TIVO drive it will be dead forever! The program says to "Do Not Run Windows Disk Manager" so is disabling automount what he means? I have a SATA dock and have a backup drive that I use, that is usually powered off.. IF I put the TIVO Drive in there will it try to mount it anyway as a drive letter is assigned when the Backup drive is in there and powered on, or does Windows know it is a different Volume?

Disk management is a specific component within Windows and is not related to automount. Disk management can be used to set up disks for access by Windows so I understand why it would be mentioned.

Well, TIVO has nothing to do with it. It is software written by someone else. Is there a way to turn Disk Management off so I can connect this drive and not have Windows do ANYTHING to it?

Disk Management only runs when you tell it to by using C:\Windows\System32\diskmgmt.msc so if you do not use it then it does not do anything [and possibly if you use it but do not tell it to change anything about the special drive].

Windows tries to detect all its connected hardware when it starts and when Device manager detects a change. I have absolutely no idea if the detection will change anything. If the software writer has only warned you about Disk Management then perhaps you'll be OK. I still think you need to go back to the software publisher to get clarification.

OK but Disk management never "comes up". It only runs when you tell it to. Many people never use it and might not even know that the utility exists.

An example comes to mind, the discontinued 3.5" floppy disks can be written to by later versions of Windows when simply inserted into the floppy drive and it will screw them up so the write-protect switch on them has to be opened to prevent it. Unfortunately HDDs don't have that switch, ZIP disks may also be at risk. The even older 5.25" disks have to have the 'notch' taped over, usually came with a black label, to prevent the problem. And Yes, I do keep a computer available with the mentioned disk drives against the time a client comes across them and want to know what they contain. I also keep a USB ZIP 250MB drive and USB 3.5" 1.44MB drive which work on Win10.
