Installing Wifi Bluetooth combo card in laptop that has them separate

I am trying to upgrade a Lenovo G550 Wifi card , the funny thing is after removing older card and replacing it with the new one , the laptop's Bluetooth seem to still work efficiently and appears in device manager indicating that it was never in combo of the older wifi card , now the sad part is the Bluetooth device of the new card appears with an exclamation mark in device manager and inoperable . I did try to disable the older card devices but still this one would not operate , the new card is an Intel ax200 that supports BT 5.0 standard while the one on the laptop is 2.0 so anybody idea how to remedy that effect ?

My first question would be: "so where is the actual Bluetooth device?" , assuming it is not on the WiFi card.
I looked briefly but Lenovo's documentation is pathetic. You might do a deeper dive on the web to see if you can find out exactly where on the motherboard it is, or if is/was originally on the old WiFi card.

Does Bluetooth work now? You see it in Device Manager but have you tried it?

When I was looking into this for replacing the WiFi card on my daughters Toshiba laptop I learned that although the newer cards like the ax200 would physically fit into the slot, the machine was limited to what the motherboard and BIOS would allow. If the hardware is not compatible with the new device it just won't work.
But you already know that: Laptop WiFi card replacement

Have you searched to see if someone else has done this with that model?

first step I did was whitelisting bios for wifi. also the old bluetooth works fine . i tested send and recieve even with card slot empty . however there is no particular spot that seems to have a removable device on the visible side of the board so to believe it's that bt device . and no I had to buy a ngff to pci-e converter . the wifi card work as expected .

Interesting. With card slot empty cinches it!
So that would mean that the chip has to be either soldered on the board, or integrated with another device. Most likely candidate the LAN chip.
Have you checked the BIOS settings? Maybe you need to disable the "on-board" Bluetooth device there?

No option as such , I can disable wifi card only but no particular setting for bluetooth .

i wonder one thing though , any body tried having two working bluetooth devices at the same time ? if its possible then maybe this is a matter of white listing , if not then its a matter of killing older bluetooth some how .

It's a strange thing. Shouldn't be so hard.

How about Device Manager? Anything in there that would be the OLD Bluetooth device?
If it's working, it's got to have a driver running somewhere.

    Here's something to try:

    Says here-
Laptop on > press Fn & F5 keys simultaneously to open the Wireless Radio dialog box.
Click the "Power On" or "Radio On" option, located to the right of the Bluetooth Radio setting.
Now go to Device Manager and see if the device shows up so you can disable it.

Thank you very much for your attempts !

I think i had it resolved and here are the findings :

There were few custom No Whitelisted bios to select from , on applying another one it seemed to reverted the operation .

Now seems the one on board with the exclamation mark and the Intel one to be the operational one .

So apparently its all about Bios in that case , they modify it as they see fit .

Another notice seems yea we can't have 2 Bluetooth dongles working at the same time .

Interesting. Where did you get your whitelist BIOS?

The link to that forum may be frowned upon here .

So search : remove (your laptop brand and model) whitelisting

There is only one website that does it and usually comes top of the search .

To note almost all Bioses pre 2014 has No Whitelisted (Sometimes NWL) ROMs released already so you need not request one but just search their Wiki of Bioses .

But 2014 onward with the introduction of UEFI , flashing a custom Bios may need a specific cable to directly download the ROM to bios and another PC to do the operation , so things got slow from then on .
