    Hard Drive Dying? PLEASE HELP!

    Hi all,

I'm REALLY desperate for some help!

    It's a 2TB Seagate HDD.

A couple days ago I ran a scan using "HD Tune" and here is the screenshot I took: HDTune-Screen-Error — ImgBB

I've also got "SeaTools for Windows" installed.

Any help people could offer would be much appreciated!

    Thank you.

    Hello.

Backup all your data ASAP. Your hard drive is starting to fail. Could you post a screenshot of HDTune's Health tab?

    Your reply is appreciated!

I just tried updating an app in Steam but it said something about a DISK/READ Error?

Would it help if I deleted files/apps from this drive while I back it up?

Have you try run Check Disk? If so do run Command prompt as Admin to type Chkdsk c:\ f
press enter then you need restart your Windows!

The /f switch only repairs NTFS file system OP can execute Chkdsk X:\ /r command to mark bad sectors.

I'm looking at "Check Disk" now.

Would I be making things better by uninstalling apps I don't need and generally deleting files?

    Thanks!

    EDIT:
I forgot to mention that I've also got the official Seagate app called "SeaTools for Windows" installed.

    @NiceAndShy:

Don't get distracted by deleting files/apps/Steam/chkdsk etc. etc. Deleting files will NOT help at all. First thing to do is follow eLPuSHeR's advice as quoted below.

I agree backup your data on the HDD first.

"...Backup all your data ASAP..." The forks in the road: either an Intelligent Copy Cloning operation or an Intelligent Copy full image of your data partition; or, at the very least, TeraCopy everything important to you as to TXT, DOC, etc etc etc onto external media of your choosing - I prefer external USB HDDs myself. I'm not certain if the HDD in question will last through an Intelligent Copy full image of the entire HDD or not, I can't see the diagnostic screenshots. You can use any number of free or fee backup/restore programs available. Just because I use Macrium Reflect and Image for Windows does not mean you have to -- use whatever feels reliable to you.
