    Noise from Power Supply

Hello, I am starting to hear this weird buzzing noise coming from the back of my power supply, I'm not sure if this is a normal kind of noise that comes from the back of a power supply when its turned on or if its something that I should worry about. I don't know if its the components inside of that power supply that are working and suppose to make that high pitched buzz sound, kind of like when your inside of a school gym and you hear that sorta buzzing noise coming from the lights, that's the best way i can describe the noise to you. I've put the speaker of my phone closer to the back of the power supply so that you'll hear that strange buzz noise coming from the back, if you listen carefully.

Should power supplies really be making that sort of buzz sound like how mine is? or is there a sound worse that this that I should be more worried about other than the sound that I am hearing and is this the normal operational sound a power supply should make when its turned on? Lastly, have you ever encountered a power supply making a noise that is much worse than the one I am hearing now? I don't know if i should RMA or replace this power supply or even keep it if the noise I'm hearing is considered "normal"

My powersupply is a EVGA - SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

I'm using Windows 10 version 1903 (pro Edition)

I did post a video on youtube to show you the noise that I am experiencing, you can find it here:

if there is any information you can provide me with in regards to this noise greatly appreciated, I just discovered this noise last night and it's making me feel very anxious and worried about it.

Thank you in advance for your help! :)

the only noise you really should hear is the fan in the power supply that's the only moving part in it. If it was me I would return it for another. you have a very good power supply in my opinion.

It is either a fan or a Cap.

So it’s either a bad fan or a blown capacitor? My power supply is connected to a surge protector.

The video sound is just normal fan noise. Cannot hear what you are describing.

A high pitched whine or buzz is usually from coil components where the windings have not been stuck down properly.

Some people are more sensitive to that sort of high frequency whine/buzz.

Not unusual on these switched mode power supply units to some degree, often varies with power draw, though if very bad all you can do is return it.

EVGA PSUs are very good and yours should have a 10 year warranty. Report the issue to EVGA support and request a new PSU under warranty.
