Worry Voltage with CPU

Okay, so i went out to amd.com and downloaded the latest chipset drivers for my 570 chipset. These were released on Jan 16 of 2020. The prior version I had were from 11-25-2019

My CPU is idling a lot lower now

So, from what I can now clearly see, my CPU cores were NEVER going to sleep and were stuck at high clocks. I've been watching it now for 15 minutes and my clocks are all between 600-800Mhz with 5 cores almost always asleep, with Task manager showing 1% and my idle temps under Ryzen master are 35-37C. That looks a whole lot better.

It's funny how many clock down issues I have experienced on this computer.

Still have 1 with his video card. We have an EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Super FTW3 Ultra. He runs 3 monitors. 2 are 60Hz , one running 1920x1200 (Dell IPS panel), one running 1920x1080 (cheap acer TN panel), and one running 144Hz (AOC G2590FX).

When I disconnect either of the 60hz panels, (so he is then running 1 at 144hz and 1 running at 60hz), everything does exactly what it should. At idle, the GPU clocks drop to 300Mhz, GPU temps drop to mid 30's and power consumption is about 20w.


Now, I will simply just reconnect the video cable to his third monitor, and immediately you can see the clocks are up at 1620-1650Mhz and power consumption is 2.5x more, and those temps will continue to rise and settle in around 50C.


Our plan is to get rid of 1 of the 60hz monitors (the 1920x1080 Acer TN), and replace it with another AOC G2590FX (144Hz) panel. I'm hoping that with 2 monitors at 144Hz and 1 monitor at 60Hz, it will downclock appropriately.

I went ahead and replaced the thermal paste with some MX4, now I then ran into issues with the GPU hitting 95c in game menus! Turned out to be the old thermal paste was crusty lol that's fixed, anyway I did notice that my cpu cooler doesn't cover the whole cpu die, when in place you can still clearly see the edge of the cpu, should this be a concern? it's seems the copper part is a little too small for the cpu itself.
