Worry Voltage with CPU

Hey guys, so since installing my AMD 3700x on a MSI Gaming pro carbon wifi everything as been fantastic, well apart from temperatures and voltage for the cpu. I have not overclocked the CPU just enabled X.M.P in bios, I'm using an air cooler with two Corsair SP120mm fans with the EVGA DG85 case with 8 fans (10 including the CPU) yet on desktop with nothing running apart from HWMonitor my temps are ideling about 50c, any ideas? I've including some screenshots, the first one is gaming you'll see it hits 81c, second is just desktop nothing running in the background at all and the third is my Windows Version.

Don't have experience with AMD processors but do realize some high core processor tend to run a bit hot. I note my Intel i9-9900K with 8 cores runs 36C average on low loads (7-10 percent) while my i7-7700K with 4-cores ran around 26 at the same levels. Also, ambient cooling has a lot to do with things as well.

That said, you might visit the AMD forums and see that temps people there are getting with their 3700x processor. Also, before I forget, have you double-checked your TIM paste? Too much/too little?

I will look at my son's setup when I get home, but I think that we idle around 43C on our 3800x if memory serves me correctly. It's definitely a hotter chip than his previous Intel Core i5. I think we get into the 80's with heavy gaming, I think this chip is safe up to around 95C.

I have a 3900X. It's not OC'd; I just run the DOCP with some DDR4 3000 MHz RAM. My cooler is a Corsair H115i Pro (liquid AIO).

The CPU idles at around 30C. Stressing it (24 threads) with the utility in CPU-Z, the temp goes up to 70C. That's short term, but I don't see a significant ramp up after a couple of minutes.

I suggest to "anthrax2471" trying the CPU-Z stress test to see where the temperature goes. It may give more consistent results than running a game.

I have a 3700x. I have the CM 212 Black edition Cooler. At idle my CPU is 34 c and under load it is 57 c. Mind you my ambient temperature is 18 c. 95 c is the thermal limit. I keep my voltage stock. Don't worry too much about voltage. It's normal. I did a lot of research on the matter. Also. Don't use HWMonitor. I would use Ryzen Master. I would remove the cooler and clean the paste and reapply. Just use a pea size dab in the middle of the CPU.

First thing would be to ditch HW Monitor and use HWinfo Free Download HWiNFO Sofware | Installer & Portable for Windows, DOS much more accurate and with more data when using Ryzen system.
AND Ryzen Master is another good utility.
For best PBO boost, try to keep max temps between 62 and 65c if possible. To lower voltages and with it temps, try setting negative CPU voltage offset of about -0.05 to- 0,1v.
To get better idle voltages and temps, use AMD Ryzen balanced power plan with minimum CPU at 5%.

Thank you all so much for the replies :) I know the AMD/Intel 8 cores run a little warmer than previous gen, and the fact it's a 7nm dye apparently causes more heat, I have read about undervolting a little bit just to knock a few degrees off, but what settings would I need to change in BIOS in order to do that? Would there also be a downside?

VDDCR (CPU Voltage) Offset and than negative offset 0.05 to 0.1v

I have set the offset but it severelly hampers performance, I think I'm just going to have to invest in a better cooler I think :) thank you for all of your inputs guys.

Did you get HWinfo by any chance ? It's free and you can see separate voltages for cores and for CPU as well as Watts which is handy for checking loads.
