upgrading to 10 but have no usb support

Hi , I upgraded my Mb and cpu ....MSI B450 A pro max and AMD Ryzen 3200G.
My OS is Windows 7 and was surprised to find out after adding these that 7 is not supported hence why usb ports have no drivers, think that's why usb stick is not showing on my computer, also my wireless mouse of course is also unusable.
So my question is can I borrow a windows 10 disc and add my windows 7 product code..would this work as an upgrade?
My keyboard is working because lucky enough that's ps/2 connection..only one ps/2 connection on Mb board .
So folks I am a bit lost here,I am no expert on these matters, hence why I am here, so any good suggestions will be greatfull.
    Cheers

    Welcome to tenforums.

If I understand your post- and I may not have, so please clarify as necessary:
    a. You are currently running Win 7
    b. Tou have upgrade hardware
    c. You now have USB driver issues.
    d. You would like to consider upgrading to Win 10.

Have you been offered Windows 10 as an upgrade?

You can install Win10 by various routes:
    a. Upgrade to Win 10
    - Windows Update
    - manually using a downloaded Win 10 iso
    - the MS Update Assistant

    - which would be possible if you have a working mouse e.g. wired.

    b. Clean install Win 10 directly by creating a bootable Win 10 installation medium, using your Win 7 code. See:
Clean Install Windows 10 Directly without having to Upgrade First

All Win 10 iso's are freely downloadable. The links under 'Here's how' tell you how to get the latest: build 1909.

However there is a widely reported problem with file explorer search in 1909 (search for
    file explorer search broken 1909
    )
    - build 1903 is the 'best' at present.

    Google
    Heidoc iso downloader
if you want an older build.

    A.yes
    B.yes, added new hardware.
C.yes, something to do with new hardware and support of windows 7..I believe.
    D. Upgrading to 10 would solve the problems...I hope.
I have my friends windows 10 disc on hand here, was just getting conformation I could go this route with his disc and my product code.
Also my OS is on an SSD (OS is only thing on it SSD)
    cheers

    Please see (b).

However, it is likely the disc you have is an older version of Win 10. You should be sure which build it is.
Further, make sure it is 32 bits or 64 bits as you require- I assume it's the correct language.

The safest option is to create your own (MS media creation tool- gives you build 1909- see comment above on this build)

Note that a clean install will mean you lose everything in your existing Windows partitions if installing to your current system disk - you will delete these as part of the clean install, and install to unallocated space.

You could consider upgrading which keeps everything, or installing to a new disk, or creating a disk image of what you have.
(tenforums members constantly recommend the routine use of disk imaging).

However your options may be limited by the extent to which you can use your current PC.

I am not sure which version of ten is on the disc, ....if it's older will it not upgrade when it is up and running?
Nothing but OS on SSD and yes I am limited what I can do now

Yes, but a major upgrade can be 4Gb of download + an hour or so, followed by a large cumulative update, sometimes almost as big. Best to pick the build you want based on my comment above.

You can download one on another PC of course, or perhaps use a wired mouse or boot your PC from a live boot disk if you have one.

    To check the build:
How to See Which Windows Version and Build is on a DVD, ISO, or USB Drive

or you might try rt clicking setup.exe, properties, details.

    - that's assuming you're able to do that of course...

USB 1.1 and 2 driver support is built-in to Windows 7 although USB 3 support isn't. You need to install the drivers for your mainboard's USB controller and its USB 3 ports (which are backwards-compatible with earlier USB protocols).

Your mainboard's schematic shows USB 2 ports below the PS/2 port your keyboard is plugged into and the MSI website shows Windows 7 support.

However, it sounds like you haven't yet installed the mainboard's chipset drivers... so the OS hasn't much idea of how to work out what hardware buses (connections) are available.... particularly the AMD USB controller.

Your mainboard's chipset drivers for Windows 7 are on the MSI webite here (install these first) and the USB 3 drivers for Windows 7 are here (reboot then install these second).

    Hope this helps...

If you open Device Manager (Start > Search > device) you should see movement there as mainboard devices are identified...

Note: Drivers direct from the manufacturer's website are often newer than those on bundled CDs (and often less 'buggy').
