Windows not populating all drives from USB hub?

Have an externally powered 10 slot USB hub that windows is having trouble dealing with. It only seems to recognize 4 or 5 attached drives and that will change(the amount recognized) depending on which USB slot the hub is connected to on my PC. All are USB 3.0 both on the Hub and PC. The drives are a mixture of ext. powered 3.5" HDD and 2.5" HDD and are all operating normally. Any idea what the issue could be? Thanks.

    EDIT: Solution in post #12

Could be exceeding the power supply rating.

You say you have a powered USB hub. What is the amp rating of the power supply for the USB hub? Let's say it is 2 amps. If you have 4 devices plugged in, each drawing 500mA, as an example, you are at the max limit of the power supply. Plug in a 5th device and you will have problems because you will be exceeding the limits of the power supply.

It'd be nice to know what hub (link?) the OP talking about before providing any guesswork.

So it doesn't matter if the devices attached have their own power supply?

Are you charging anything on the charge only ports?

No, but apparently all the slots charge devices anyway and that red/blue LED stuff is just some RGB nonsense. Also, if I turn off the individual USB slots on the hub and then back on, the drive will not display in file manger.

It does not sound power related to me, then. I've never used a USB hub like that with several drives plugged in, so I can't help any more. Except maybe have you loaded any chipset or USB drivers available from the manufacturer of your motherboard?

All devices plugged in a USB HUB share one USB port.
